Is that what the blue lights in the toilets are for? I've only ever seen them in my Tesco and I thought it was a bizarre lighting choice!

I need to just say, the Lexicon is going to be brilliant! Looks really lovely and at not even finished yet! You can just tell it's going to be nice! The M&S is opening soon too if I remember correctly with many others aiming to be open by September!!

They remodeled the bathroom in our Waitrose and put in blue lights so that junkies can't shoot up.  Baffled .

Smarter junkies mark their arms before going in the bathrooms, I'm told. ;)

Really, in a Waitrose? I thought those only went into posh neighborhoods. (?)

It's tough finding a toilet anywhere.  In April I asked at our local M&S.  I was very obviously heavily pregnant and had a toddler doing the wee-wee dance next to me.  They sent us outside and down a block to a coffee shop.  Luckily we both made it without accidents!

I remember a time when it was quite common to see (in downtown Leeds) mothers aiming their kids (boys and girls) to pee in the gutter.  Even when they were outside a department store which did have loos.

I've read this twice today before I came back to respond. All I can say is WHAT??? I know as kids when we went to the country we sometimes did this but not in a highly public place where there's access to toilets.

The ladies' room at Glasgow Queen Street station had blue lights too!  It looked like a nightclub and really made me laugh.  I didn't realize this is what they were for.  I just thought they were really funky.

I've been shocked that there are no public bathrooms in the gorgeous parks. Fabulous wonderful parks where I want to take the dogs and a picnic for the day...and then I have to leave as soon as nature calls. It's really frustrating!

Oh, and I lucked out on this one.

I'd read all these posts saying how cold British summer can be and people couldn't wear sundresses, etc. So I packed just a few shorts and meant to send the rest with my sea shipment. Total fluke, the box got missed so I had to bring a whole bunch of shorts in my suitcases. Arrived just in time for the first intense heatwave with no air conditioning. Boy was I thankful!

So if you come here, yes it does get chilly in the summer (down to 50 this August) but you WILL want hot weather clothes for the heatwaves. I would have been absolutely miserable if I hadn't had my extra shorts.

It's difficult because it's very unpredictable from my experience. It definitely gets hot, it's just not as long as the summers that I'm used to in New England (that's what I always tell people back home when they do the "it doesn't get hot there in summer does it?")

Unless you are in Scotland and have thyroid disease. Lmfao. I wear jumpers on the hottest of days here.

You lucky folks who live somewhere in the UK where it's hot enough to actually wear shorts (without tights/leggings underneath!)  We get super excited when it gets to 20ºC/68ºF!
I've never gotten food on my underpants!
Work permit (2007) to British Citizen (2014)
You're stuck with me!
