Hello all,

I just wrapped up my MBA and will be moving to London in October for work. Spent last summer working in the City and loved my time in London so decided to accept the full-time job offer.

I am originally from the heartland -- Peoria, IL and spent 2 years in Boston the prior 4 years in Chicago. The job is a local hire situation which means I will be London for awhile. I quite looking forward to the experience and all the travel opportunities.

So far this site has been a treasure trove of information. Hopefully I will have something to contribute soon.

Cheers all.

RRW

Hiya RRW and welcome to UKY!  I'm another from the heartland...grew up in Plainfield and Joliet.  I went to WIU so used to visit Peoria every once in a while!

Congrats on your MBA and best of luck in your new job!

You've chosen the right site to get lots of good info. on expat living.  It's also great fun and if you're anything like me, you'll get addicted!
Life should NOT be a journey to the
grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well
preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand,
wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and
screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"

Small world indeed.

I find the more I travel/move the more people I bump into I know from back home. Last night I ended up at a bbq and there was a woman there not only from my hometown but a year behind me in highschool! The world truly is a global village.

Elle (my other half) is from Rock Island IL, the other birthplace of the Blues Brothers depending on which album you've got lol  Hopster is from Iowa, so there's a lot of people from the mid west on the boards.  Enjoy your stay! ;)

It's really great to know that there are tons of Midwesterners on the boards. It's the next best thing to having family in the UK!
