It was the fairest outcome!
« on: June 21, 2002, 06:56:10 PM »
It's a pity that England lost their game today in the World Cup.  Also, It's a pity that the USA lost too.

But , look on the bright side.  How bad would it have been for our spouses to beat us with the fact that England went out in the Quarter Finals , and the USofA (does anyone say that anymore??) ,  managed to get further than us,  and we've been playing it for 130 years!!    at least its all quits, and there'll be no ritual beatings tonight .

Sometimes life gives us little bonuses.

and Belgian Beer,  sorry but for the purposes of the Spouse House I'll consider you an honorary England supporter especially since Brazil had already been instrumental in Belgiums earlier departure.......a common enemy as such!

have a good weekend guys and gals

Steve, any funny comments about the USA progressing further than Eng-er-land from our spouses would have been worth it as long as the Germans hadn't progressed  ;)

Fortunately my wife islandgirl is, like myself, a fellow England and Arsenal supporter, so I'm sure she wouldn't have given me grief ... at least, that what reckons :)

Congratulations islandgirl, NYstate_of_mind and 12yearsandcounting who managed to get onto CNN for supporting the USA team!

Don't want to interrupt or anything.  I know I'm not allowed to be in this section but.....  YEEEESSSS

WE ROCKED!!  [smiley=smoking.gif] CNN.  My voice is still hoarse from it.  W/the exception of Belgium Beer being really embarrassed from it.  Hey, oh well.

I know its  few day too late but on  the subject of keeping it fair for UK and US soccer interest,   as it turns out, both teams were knocked out of the cup by finalists!   Couldn't be much fairer than that

...or could it ?  Well England lost to the winners and US lost to the runners up. So in my fantasy world cup scenario, I calculate England came second and US came fourth!

lol

so, england 2 usa 0 ?  ;)

Apparently ( I had to do some Internet researching)  but Belgium were on the UP.  Moving up from 23rd place to number 19.

So, if you add Belgium 4 plus England 4, that comes to 8, which means Spouse House 8,  UKYankees 2 !

It's getting better.
