Is this a record?
« on: August 23, 2003, 12:16:22 PM »
This is not Barbara, its her hubby posting. She is just too excited to post. Gone to neighbours to tell them good news.
She sent in her application for British citizenship 11 days ago and today she has received a letter saying that the Home Office has considered her application. They enclosed the oath of allegiance form and once this is done they will make final decision.
The Home Office website say they are taking 8 to 9 months to consider applications. Is this a record?
Having been let down by Mick Jagger (we were going to the Stones gig today), she is over the moon.

Very cool indeed...  how long must you be in the UK to apply for dual citizenship?  I have not even gotten to the UK yet...LOL  but never hurts to know ahead of time.

If you're married to a British citizen, I think you have to wait until three years after your wedding to apply.  I'm eligible to apply in June 2004.  If you're here on a work permit, I think you have to wait five years.

John and I went away for the weekend and when we arrived home on Monday evening there was this wonderful envelope waiting for me. The contents??? A "Certificate of naturalisation" and it says 'The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred by the British Nationality Act 1981, hereby grants this certificate ofnaturalisation to the person named below (me!!  ;D), who shall be a BRITISH CITIZEN from the date of this certificate'. The date was Sept 4.  I would be pretty excited, except that now that I am British I can't really show it...oh, wait a minute,,,I'm dual so the American in me can get excited for the British side of me!!!
