One Year Mark
« on: August 23, 2003, 11:49:28 PM »
Well, today is exactly one year from the (first) time me and the boys landed here in our new home of England.  It's kind of bittersweet, seeing as we were back on a plane to NY within 10 days, and we spent horrible, gutwrenching hours at the airport before being told we were going to be deported...

But it's been - even without the crap we've gone through - the best year of my life.  Probably the best year (so far) of my kids' lives as well.  Our lives are so much better.  We're happier.  We're closer.

It's hard to believe it's been a year.  But most of the time, it's harder to believe it's ONLY been a year...and not our whole lives.

I'm a little too tipsy to go into this too much - four pints at a local real ale festival to celebrate - but I want to thank everyone here for all the help and input they had in the beginning of this adventure.  Every little bit has helped make this transition easier.  And I hope that I've been able to help others this past year, and for a long time to come.

:D

Congrats Peedal!  Believe me, many of your posts have been extremely helpful to me and I thank you for them!

I'm so glad that everything has worked out for you...sometimes having a rocky start makes it that much sweeter when you finally get where you want to be!

Life should NOT be a journey to the
grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well
preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand,
wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and
screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"

Congratulations Peedal, I'm sorry I missed this thread before! I was just thinking about how long I've been here, just nearly the same time as you - it's amazing how fast the year has gone, isn't it. :) So glad that you are so happy - you really deserve it. (hug)

Thanks everyone.   [smiley=heart.gif]

It's certainly been an (ahem) interesting year...! ;D  And we're all looking forward to many, many, many more!!   [smiley=smitten.gif]

Funny thing is, Phil is the one who's getting *homesick* for Florida!  He's busy figuring how we can go back and visit my mother (and [smiley=mickey.gif] ) for Thanksgiving.   :D
