Nevermind... we made up for it last night.
We have a few burrito shops in town (unfortunately not the same town I work in, which is a lunch hellhole), and last night I had a massive pulled pork, black bean burrito with extra cheese, guacamole, green chile salsa and sour cream!  ;D

That sounds MUCH better! :)

The last few days, I've been going to the KFC drive-through in the hellhole town I work in... because they're currently doing those 'bite' things, where you get 4 of these chicken bites in a really nice sauce, in a tub.  At the moment they're doing peri-peri, barbecue and tomato... the peri-peri is pretty good.

Chinese spiced chicken wings from the hot counter in Sainsburys, and a yoghurt.

No interest in the provolone?
Well, *someone* is buying it (at least in Dumbarton!), cos every time I go to get some more, it's sold out!  :(

I love provolone. When Lidl have their "Italian week" they always have big packs of it which I stock up on. It was just last week too, so if you have one near you I would take a look - they might still have some in.

I was trying to make a pasta bake and I asked about provolone cheese, and I was told "we don't get American cheese often here." Eh.... what? ;D It does seem hard to find, even if people know what it is.

Would *love* to find provolone!  Best thing on pizza, steak & peppers, etc.

I've tried Lidl, but even during Italian week, when it's in their flyer, the one by us never seems to get it.

I never go to Lidl these days, but if I thought there might be provolone, I definitely would.  BriKH, if you have a chance, next time it's 'Italian week', could you please post about it to let us know?   :)

Yes, absolutely. I think they do it a few times a year. I'm always on the lookout for it just for the provolone. I think it's a bit softer than what I remember from back home, but it will do.

Brunch, rather than lunch, but last night I brought home a bucket of KFC, and there were a few pieces leftover.  So I shredded them up, including the tasty skin, and threw them in a pan with grated mild cheddar, the last dregs of the gravy and Mrs Renfro's jalapeno salsa.  Heated up a tin of refried beans, spread it over large flour tortillas, then added the spicy cheesy chicken and topped with Hidden Valley Ranch dressing... and rolled them up into burrito-shaped edibles.

My mister, who claims not to like leftovers, gobbled it like mad, making approving noises with each mouthful.  I have to admit, it was pretty lush!

I made mulligatawny soup this morning and had it for lunch with super-soft bread rolls... it was pretty amazing.  I used that idiot Pioneer Woman's recipe, except I substituted a tin of coconut milk for her half & half.
