Sleep & Health Troubles
« on: January 15, 2004, 06:32:59 AM »
Hiya!!

I noticed on another forum that there are quite a lot of you ladies out there that have trouble sleeping or are up all hours of the night (Insomniacs R Us!) Dont know if this should really go on this forum but here goes -

Im not really an insomniac. As a matter of fact I'll sleep until someone drags me out of bed. Im perfectly happy, because I dont work, to sleep in my nice warm bed til 4:00PM. I sometimes dont go to bed until 7:00AM. My bio-clock is totally *bleep*ed me thinks. Ive been in England nearly 3 years and I should be adjusted to the time by now, but it feels like Im not.

Recently Ive been having... ahem... ladies troubles *lol*. Have any of you had trouble staying on a well timed cycle due to your insomnia / weird bio-clock? Any solutions to the problem besides going to bed and getting up at normal times?

Sorry if this is a bit personal but Id rather not ask in any health matters forums because they all seem to be hypocondriacs there (sp?) and my doc doesnt give a damn.

Any shared experiences would be very appreciated.

I don't really have any exerience to share because I am and always have been regular as a clock so to speak, but I do know that our cycles are very responsive to many factors.  Stress can lead to irregularity as well as diet and many other things.  I don't see why sleeping at different hours would hurt, but do think that insomnia  could.  If your body is not getting enough sleep then that is a stress on the body.

Sorry I am not much help!

I only go wacky when I start/stop a new exercise program. Have you started/stopped one lately?
Oh - or been around a female friend who was on a different schedule - and you caught up to hers?  Sounds strange, but it happens.

I don't mean to sound like I know anything about this, but have you considered that you might be depressed? I know that irregular sleep patterns like being able to sleep until 4 pm (or more likely not wanting to or feeling like you don't have a reason to get out of bed) are symptoms of depression.

Depression and stress (already mentioned) do cause irregularities. I have been there on the stress end.

Whatever it is, I hope things are better soon.

Jenny
