HI, USA MOM IN SURREY
« on: October 10, 2002, 04:19:33 AM »
Have just joined in on the forum, so hello to all out there.  We are old expats, done about 5 assignments so far, and now are out here in the "country".  Have three boys, 12, 11, 9, and one girl, a lazy golden retriever.  Dad is in oil patch, so we are used to this moving around stuff.  This one has been tougher than the others, think its the weather, or me, or something!

Hi Jammie,

Welcome to UKY.  I hope that you are enjoying Surrey.  I lived in SW London for 16 years, from leaving high school to leaving the UK, and so I know Surry quite well.  It is a beatiful place to live, though expensive.  I guess you are there for the American School?

My wife, Jill/"Val" is from Virginia so you'll be finding similar differences to her when she lived in London.  She always complained about the cold, or at least the dampness of it; that and the lack of bug screens! ;D

Hi Jammie, Welcome to the sight.

I have been quiet for the last few days so I am sorry I am late in greeting you...

I hope you enjoy the group...there are a lot of good people here.

Hello Jammie, welcome. :) Hang in there, it slowly gets better. It's probably the weather getting to you. It sure does me in.

How are your children adjusting to the new life and school?

thanks leah, for the kind thoughts...I guess I feel blue when it RAINS all the time!  My boys are great, they are in British school, why not, we live in England, and they are having a ball, and the curriculum is amazing!  I guess I long for my old friends.....people are quite reserved, just now, after 2 years I am JUST starting to be accepted.  Plus, my house is a mess cos I live with too many men!!! 3boys+hubby.  I spend my life doing laundry, with the "3 towel only" size washer and dryer.  Otherwise, I have been to worse places, like China, so one should not complain!  Cheers.   ;)
