New member from Portsmouth... in 2 days...
« on: October 27, 2002, 10:52:04 PM »
Hi,
I'm Sara, 19 from Maine and about to move to England on Monday night. Needless to say I'm a bit scared, nervous, and meloncholy about leaving home for good, but I'm also really excited. I have wanted to go to the UK since I was in middle school, and now I have the chance. I just hope I like it there and don't get too horribly homesick.

I am moving to Portsmouth, England, with my fiance Steve, whom I met over the internet in a chatroom. My mother met my stepdad the same way and they've been happily married for six years now, so it just runs in my blood  :D

I came across the UK Yankee website through the AmericanExpats site, and I really liked the forum so I thought I'd join :) Anyway, I should get back to packing so I'll be ready for tomorrow. Talk to you all later!

-Sara

Hello and welcome from another Sara - turns out there's loads of us here. :D Good luck on your move... how exciting for you!!! Feel free to post all you want here, we all know what it's like to be transplanted. It's exciting and wonderful, but doesn't stop it from stinking sometimes too. Welcome to the site...
I'm done moving. Unrepatriated back to the UK, here for good!

Hi Sara!  I think you'll feel right at home here in the forum, even if you don't feel right at home in Portsmouth right away.  Lots of us moved over the same way, under very similar circumstances.  It's a big move but I'm sure you'll do fine.  ;)

Best of luck in your move over and hope you'll come back and tell us how it is going once you get settled again.

Great to have you here!
