(split)time spent outside UK during FLR?

The recent post on days spent outside of the UK in relation to naturalisation got me thinking about the limit for time spent outside of the UK and ILR applications. Can someone remind me what the limit is? I seem to remember that it was a guideline, and not an exact cut-off.

For a spousal application, there is no time limit.
