46  :\\\'(  More sad about the fact that I had to have a tooth pulled (leaving a big space--luckily it doesn't really show) than I was about the pain (didn't really hurt that much anyway).

How old were you when you made a decision that upset one or both of your parents?

I was about 25 and decided to no longer claim myself as Catholic, because I didn't agree with the emphasis put on the Pope. Dad's family has been Catholic since the dawn of time, and he was not pleased about it. Granted, he only goes to church for weddings and funerals these days, but that isn't the point.

I read this a couple days ago and have been thinking about it. I can't remember a time of disagreeing with a teacher that stands out. I suppose I was either afraid to challenge a teacher, or none of them ever said anything I felt was truly wrong.

How old were you when you were first in charge of watching someone else, sibling, neighbour kid, babysitting, etc?

About now I find myself sounding like my mom a lot, though I'm pretty sure It's happened before, so I'll say 40s.

I moved a bit and lost touch with friends from fairy young, 8-9...but when I chose to end a friendship because of something they did I was 22.

How old were you when you got your first pet (if you've had one)?

(I hope that isn't a question that's been asked too recently!)

Not counting fish, I will say about 32 when I met my ex and Poochie (big tabby cat) came into my life.

I was 4. My first pet of my very own was a kitten I was given when I was 3. I named her Dang It. No idea why, but that is what I named her. She was run over when I was 4. We lived out in the country, but on a fairly busy road, with a school at one end and a factory at the other, so there was always traffic.

How old were you when you stopped believing in Santa, if you ever did?

Apparently I begged my mom to tell me the truth when i was pretty young like 5 or 6 and she said that Santa isn't a real person but a representation of Christmas spirit....and I apparently refused to believe her and kept saying I believed for a few years after. She says she thinks I was afraid I wouldn't get presents anymore if I didn't believe (and still signs a few Santa!)

How old were you when (and if) you first spent a Christmas without your parents?

I was 20, when I was on a study abroad year in the US. But I did spend the Christmas with my US relatives instead.

Until now, that was my only Christmas without my parents, as Christmas is a 'stay at home with the family' event for us. However, this year all 3 of us kids are living on different continents for Christmas while our parents are back in the UK.

I will be spending Christmas Day 2013 on a tropical island in the mid-Atlantic, celebrating with work colleagues and RAF sergeants before working a night shift (we celebrated our family Xmas in late November when we were all home) :).

On a similar subject, how old were you when you first lived far away from home on your own?

When I had just turned 24, in fact I turned 24 our first full day there, my then fiance and I stayed in the Wisconsin Dells for 2 1/2 months before we moved on to other places with his job. He worked in the track department for Custom Coasters at the time, building wooden roller coasters. We went to a few other places with his job. After a while he decided to do something different, so he found a job pulling up old railroads, which actually paid even more than the coaster job, but kept us on the road. We went home to visit family every couple of months, but we saw 12 or 13 states in two years, between the two of them.

How old were you when you first took a date to a family celebration (holiday, family reunion, wedding, etc)

I was 14 and sat with the guest registry at my uncle's wedding. They were meant to be together, and all these years later are still madly in love.

How old were you when you first went out on New Year's Eve without your parents or a chaperone?
