British Citizenship - Waiting Time

Thanks!  It cannot come soon enough for my husband, who just went through immigration at Heathrow and was asked how he had gotten ILR.  (Being married to me.  Hey, at least there are *some* benefits.... )  Then they asked him whether I was born British or had naturalised, and when he said I'd naturalised, they asked how *I* had gotten ILR.  Sheesh.  I guess I should be glad they didn't phone my ex to check up on that!

I just got my Citizenship Invitation in the post. 

For those who have applications in the pipeline, my timeline is 28 October 2013, submitted app to NCS.  9 January 2014 received notice of payment and invitation arrived on 10 February. 

I am sure I will be seeing other happy posts shortly!

I wanted to post ASAP, as knew there are a few of you out there, who have been waiting anxiously because of the back-log. Phatbeetle, I bet you will have your Invitation before the end of the month.

Congrats, Karrit!  And it's good news for my husband as well; he got his letter on Saturday 8 February, so exactly four weeks after UKBA took his money.

I am currently in US, and have applied for Citizenship by Descent, in advance of move to UK for job in June 2014. Paperwork included: mother's birth certificate, grandmother's birth certificate -- both British, from same town. Family still there.

Date of application (received in Liverpool): 13 November 2013
Acknowledgement of receipt letter dated: 12 January 2014 (needed updated debit)
Date of debit card charge: 5 February 2014

Any insights as to possible Date of Invitation Letter?

From reading other posts, it seems as if they've broken through a serious backlog. I'm hopeful that it may be in the next two or three weeks.

I'm a bit fearful that I'll have to withdraw the application and pursue a Tier 2 work visa instead, which I'd like to avoid. I'm just nervous because I'll need to prove my ability to work in the UK to my international mover in early May, and that date approaches quickly.

My letter came yesterday!
