Woodrow Wilson!
« on: August 06, 2008, 10:24:37 PM »
After all these years, my Dad finally digs up the family tree.

Right, I've been interested in a few relatives, like James Wilson, the inventor of some cotton weaver; but I had no idea I was (not directly) related to an American president! I was so shocked, we have an American president in our tree!

He's my Dad's Grandad's great Grandad  ;D

Thought I'd share this  ;) ;)

Hey!  We might be cousins!  My mother told me that her mother (my GM) said Woodrow was her cousin.  My GM was born in Co. Tyrone in N. Ireland and her maiden name was Foster.  And her mother's (my GGM) maiden name was Wilson.  I believe it must be true because my GM told the kids never to mention this as Woodrow was a (gasp!) Democrat!!  Also when a visited the relations in N. Ireland a number of years ago they took me to see the Wilson's ancestral home (cottage) so evidently they all believed it too.

The family on my Dad's side is Scottish, not Irish...and unfortunatly I'm not blood linked to him so we have nothing to do with each other..

would of been cool, though!

That's way cool. An American President, eh! DH is a direct descendant of Captain James Cook on his mother's side.

I believe that when Dorothy Parker was told that Woodrow Wilson had died, she said, "How can anyone tell?".
