Of course. I used to visit my Nana after school on a Monday and my staple snack at her house was brown bread from a can, spread with either butter or cream cheese. The kind with raisins is the best.
It's actually really traditional to have it on a Saturday night, along with hot dogs and Boston beans. I think it's a dying/dead tradition these days, but I think folks do have it as a nostalgia thing.
It's a steamed bread, with the ridges. It's sweetish, made with molasses.
Oh yeah, and that article totally reminded me that we used to eat deviled ham. Same brand, but I remember the can being wrapped in white paper
