lol, no, the £60 was for a $140 jacket on overstock.  The fees on something like a $1000 item may be like, $250.  That's more than I would pay for something that's essentially just shipping.

Oh, ok...  :P  Sorry if I came across as too cheeky! But QG seems to have the right idea in her post above.  :D  I am sure you might find some good deals if you keep looking around...

I would have to say uk ebay has been far more use to me than ebay.com ever was.
Since being in the uk, my biggest purchses have been a DSLR, a Ford Explorer, and a wii. I never used ebay as much stateside. I only ever use ebay.com to buy stuff for my parents or people back in the states.
Give it time, youll adjust!

I don't sell on Ebay anymore, but I use it a lot to buy, especially because we don't live near many shops.

I love it!

Personally, having worked in designer boutiques, I think someone would be crazy to buy high end designer goods on E-bay.  95%+ of it is fake.  Even the stuff that looks amazing and sells for a lot.

Some stuff isn't so bad but Chanel and Louis Vuitton is almost always fake, seriously.

Though many good on ebay are fake, there are many that aren't - I've bought a couple of purses and I can guarantee that they are 100% authentic.  I have bought several purses outside of ebay too, so I know what I'm looking at.  I've lived in Japan for several years, the land of great knockoffs, but a knockoff is a knockoff, and I know one when I see one and inspect it.

That's besides the point - I was simply stating that I missed ebay - I was not looking for someone to judge my purchases or call my judgment "crazy."

Oh, no, I don't buy high-end designer stuff on there.  I usually buy stuff like curtains, baby toys, American food and novelty items like spalights, a SunJar, etc.

I'd never buy fragrance on there because I heard a lot of that is fake, too.

I think you're being a little sensitive.

Besides that, E-bay and many online shopping sites still exist here and getting hit by customs is really hit and miss.  With the pound being so crap at the moment it's not like you're missing out on any amazing bargains anyway.

I've had to but only on packages from Asia.  Everything else has got through fine, even those marked as "goods" and given the full value on the customs label.

Buy from Ebay.com if you want.
I do it all the time and have no trouble.
Only if the package indicates a company do I get a customs charge.
Most of my skirts are from America. I can't find a skirt to fit me here.
Waist is too big and hips to small. Americans must have a different proportion than English women.
A skirt in a padded envelope should be with you within a week of shipping and cost about 12.00 dollars.
I have bought all sorts of stuff, Not one problem.
Most recent customs charge? 17.22 on an order from a regular company that amounted to 132.00 in goods.
But, I only buy things I can't find over here. That's only fair.
Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying:
"I will try again tomorrow"

I dont think you (meaning us/any1) can tell for 100% sure if something is a knockoff or not.
I've seen some pretty good knockoffs.   But wait, then how did I know they were fake?

I love this website for the occassional designer treat:

http://www.yoox.com/home.asp?tskay=B84CE7A2

They ship to the UK from Italy. I never had any customs or shipping issues.
