Another exciting feature for me to play with on the forum.  Thanks Leah!

I like it (for now), but could easily see it degrading into something of a popularity contest...

Agreed.  I like the 'simple thanks' idea, but not quite clear on how that sort of thing works - never having seen it in action.  :)

I haven't been around lately and I was so surprised and didn't think it had been THAT long since I've been online here. I've seen forums use it as a game to see who can get the most rep points, but it doesn't sound like that will happen here.  :)

The intent isn't for it to be a popularity contest. It's a tool to reward each other for contributions/support, increase Reputation. You get what you put into it, like anything in life. If it is seen to start skewing off course, we'll do our best to correct it. I imagine that when the newness wears it will mellow out. There have been 160 points given out in two days, they seem to be spreading out quite well. I'm pleased.

Imagine, you post a question, someone you rarely interact with gives you a Rep comment of "thanks for asking something I've always wanted to ask", or on another post "you always have such great ideas." These are the sorts of things I am seeing in the logs and they make me smile. I think this will be a positive thing for the majority and encourage constructive posting/discussion/support. :)

I think maybe initially it might be a sort of popularity contest. But once the novelty wears off, it should work as it's supposed to.

Earlier today I noticed my reputation number in threads and on my profile was 3, even though when I clicked on Who Changed My Reputation there were 4 points from 4 people listed.  Then later in the day somebody gave me another point, so now it says 4 under my name in threads and on my profile, but 5 are listed under Who Changed My Reputation.

I hesitate to ask, but is the feature slightly broken, or did somebody retract a point, but it hasn't updated everywhere yet?  Not that I'm keeping track obsessively or anything like that, you understand.   ;)

I need to check on this as I think I possibly have screwed something up today. Please bear with me until tomorrow when I can look at it.  :-[

Ha Ha I noticed the same thing but was hesitant to say anything because I didn't want to seem like I was obsessive. I only have one but it shows 0.   :-(

** modified, sorry Leah didn't see you posted while I was writing my post.

Yeah, mine used to say 2 reputation points, now it says one, but in my profile it still shows I received 2 points.

Don't worry Leah--we will sit tight 'til it's fixed!

I just figured I must have lost a brownie point - maybe when I was being snarky with PMS.  :P

But it seems that everyone is -1 lately.  ;)

I'm down a point too.  It's universal except for Mrs. Robinson's right?  Hers was taken away on purpose for dragging cheese into topics where it wasn't appropriate.  ;)  ;D
