Totally agreeing with you, Mrs R. Being kind to yourself and persisting, even when there's low points is really, really important for me.   :)

I am thinking about the friends diet. That is, I need more time with friends and they make me happy, which is definitely more healthy!  :D

I just try and keep walking and will be walking more since my free ride home from work is gone.  :( about the colleague, as I really like her, but her days have changed / reduced but  [smiley=2thumbsup.gif] for my health.

Anyone still around here? I am trying to shake off the baby weight (plus a bit extra I was working on losing from quitting smoking before I got pregnant) but not doing a grand job so far. I tracked calories on Spark People for several days last week and did a postnatal yoga dvd a few times and took a few walks. It was a good start and I lost a couple of pounds (I think I did anyway, but our scale is pretty unreliable). But I lost focus for the last couple of days and I'm finding it hard to keep things going. I had some ice cream yesterday and I just ate two ham and cheese toasties for lunch!!  :o Need to seriously keep this in check. It's easy to eat the wrong things, and eat too much in general, when I'm tired and inside most of the time taking care of a baby. I keep sneaking off for a snack.  :( I try to get out for walks and things to take my mind off eating, but it's tough getting out with a newborn, they feed often so you have to time things just right.  :-\\\\

Hey Jewlz,

Just noticed you're around my neck of the woods (I'm in Cullercoats near Tynemouth). I lurk here a lot but never post. Congrats on the new baby! Let me know if you ever want to get out and grab a coffee somewhere.

As for fitness, I just bought a new bike and am biking all over the coast. My pudgy body is really feeling it on the (gentle) hills, but I can feel years of my unhealthy Dallas BBQ diet slowly being rolled back, so that's good!

One thing I really like about the UK, there are cycling routes EVERYWHERE! I even have a cycling map which shows the routes, conditions of trails, cycle shops along the way, etc..

I'm going back on Weightwatchers once all this Christmas socialising is over and done with. That, and walking everywhere when we move back to the UK, should shift what I like to call my "living in Asia where its too hot to move" extra weight.

If anyone hasn't tried WW their "diet" is practical for everyday living, really does work, and I find attending meetings gives me the encouragement (and accountability!) to get the weight off. Life has thrown a few curveballs recently but I'm very keen to return to healthy cooking and eating and wearing my favourite winter clothes.

I'll join you.  I have struggled with my weight since moving to the UK (yes, I know everyone thinks you should be fat in America and skinny in the UK), but my lifestyle change here has caught up with me.

I am really hoping that I can get motivated to being more active, now there is a study break around the corner. I fancy a Dales hike + pub. Soon!
