Speak Out

Al Jazeera’s award-winning news coverage provides a unique perspective to global events. From the recent conflict in Gaza, where AJE was the only international English-language network to broadcast from both Israel and Gaza, to exclusive reporting from inside Myanmar during insurrections, to in-depth coverage of the US election, Al Jazeera English puts the human being at the center of the story and provides all sides.

However, unlike the rest of the world, most North American audiences remain in the dark. In a world that is growing increasingly smaller and more interconnected each day, it is more important than ever to have full access to international news.

Al Jazeera English is dedicated to providing a voice to the voiceless, and now you have the opportunity to have your voice heard. If you live in the United States or Canada, this website is your opportunity to show your support for Al Jazeera English.

I can't quite see your average small cable company in middle America carrying it, and the giant operator Comcast already stated a few years ago that it will not carry it on any of its cable systems.

Anyone who really wants to watch it can do so with a fairly small satellite system anyway.  It's available free to air on the Galaxy 25 satellite, receivable with an 80 - 100 cm dish across the lower 48:

No, they won't carry it because people will see "Al Jazeera" and be up in arms straight away. I've watched some of their programming and it's quite interesting and good to get a different perspective. DW has watched it and said it wasn't what she thought it would be - was also surprised to see Sir David Frost on there.
As to "if anyone wants to watch it they can"...well yes, but that's not really the point, the issue is having it widely available so that people that wouldn't normally watch may catch it from time to time.

The standard of journalism on Al Jazeera is typically far higher than that of most US cable news networks. It's a pity that the large cable companies in the US is too closed-minded to consider providing access to it.
