Congratulation to Jza, but I was wondering if he expedited his case as we are yet to see any December 2013 application  granted on this forum, except for one that was expedited.

I hope they start working on Dec 13 application as I posted my Set M of the 4th of Dec.

Best of luck to us waiting.....

Dobe - i needed to travel for work 2nd May.

I called home office to see if there was anything that could be done... first time i spoke to a rude and grumpy man so decided to call again the next day and try and speak to someone else, teh second time i spoke to a lovely woman who said she would look into it an call me back...

She never called me back but to my HUGE surprise my permit and passport are back in my hand.

Also when i sent my additional documents i sent a cover letter saying that i needed to travel for work and my date.

It was pretty hard to get through to the home office - i literally kept hanging up and redialling about 100 times until i got through to someone

I was about to say… guess the rest of us are still stuck with the 4 month waiting times.

*twiddles thumbs*

A friend of mine who did her SET (M) application late November and her biometrics over Christmas got her BRP and approval Friday before last. I don't know the exact dates, but sounds like they're working on applications with biometrics done in December at the moment.

Thank you Bunch Jza, in away your effort and letter did influence the early decision on your application so my hypothesis wasn't wrong afterall.

However, I am happy for you and please enjoy your freedom !!! All the best with your work and travels pal

Best of lucks to the waiters !!!

So this is all sounding a bit more encouraging. I submitted in February and was pretty certain - and gutted - that I was really going to be waiting 6 months.

Now I'm wondering whether it's worth trying to expedite. My family in the US is planning a reunion there for mid-June, and have booked accommodation, but we haven't bought airline tickets yet. I've been really desperate to see them all, especially my sister and her kids who live in Oregon, whom I haven't seen in about 3 years (and they're not in a position to travel to the UK). And under the 6-month wait I'd be simply SOL. A 4-month wait is sooo close to making it possible, but not enough to feel secure about buying the tickets (can anyone advise on cancellation insurance?). On the other hand the paperwork I got with my biometrics letter said pretty clearly that a holiday is not a valid reason to expedite. But. This is a special, pre-planned, I-haven't-seen-my-family-and-I'm-losing-the-will-to-live holiday.

Another thought is that we were going to combine this with a marketing trip for our new business which is still in the early stages. What kind of documentation would we need to demonstrate the work-travel requirement?

Sort of thinking out loud a bit...
September 2009: Tier 1 visa
April 2011: Married
March 2012: FLR(M)
February 2012: SET(M) application submitted

There's no actual way to expedite an ILR application, other than paying for an in-person premium appointment instead of applying by post.

If you have been waiting longer than the standard processing time (i.e. more than 6 months), then you can get your MP involved and see if they can contact UKBA on your behalf to get the application processed quickly.

Otherwise, the only other way to expedite is in an emergency situation or on compassionate grounds, such as a family bereavement, terminal illness, or other reason you may need to travel urgently in an emergency.... and as you said, a family holiday is not a valid emergency or compassionate grounds so they would not be able to expedite it for you.

This is absolutely ridiculous how long of a wait, it would be nice if they sent a small little email saying something. I have been waiting since December 4th and not a word yet! My work is constantly sending me letters about my application and its always the same response from me nothing not a word from them. Everyday I wait for the post thinking this is it and nope nothing :(
