West Midlands World Cup Parties??
« on: May 11, 2010, 11:07:39 AM »
Anyone in Birmingham/Dudley/Solihull/Wolves/West Mids/ANYWHEREEEEEE want to get together for the USA World Cup matches?  I'm having trouble finding any other Americans interested-- my fellow Yanks on my Softball team aren't interested in Soccer.  I can't see myself going to Broad Street on my own in my USA shirt when we play England.  So anyone want to get together and help organise something for the matches?

Been in Birmingham 6 years already and still haven't met many fellow Yanks in the mids.

I would be interested in supporting the home team ... where and when?

Not sure.  We need a place where it's safe to cheer--probably an irish pub, or maybe walkabout

I'm pretty ignorant about this stuff (soccer), but I'd be down for that. If somebody can choose the pub/wherever, I will be there provided I can make it!

Also, what is this about a softball team?? Where is this based and are you looking for new players? I would love to get back into team sports.

There's a great pub near us that my neighbor recommended as safe if the US wins.

Should we meet there?

It looks alright, but I'm thinking probably something more central to Birmingham may work for most, although I'm just assuming most live in Birm rather than the surrounding area...anyone for Walkabout?

I personally could get to either as I think I've got a ride that night, but if other people are looking at coming, I think the city centre would be the best bet for transport links. So in light of that I'd say we should go for Walkabout. Is it the 12th of June?

I'm open to either place. What time should we plan on meeting?

I'm totally up for this, I want to come too! :)

I live in London, but my partner is Brummie, and I'll be up there during the World Cup.

Good question....CliffKram, any thoughts on that? I have no idea what time the game is. Maybe I could ask my friend Google, though...

Match is at 7:30, so I think we should plan for 6:30-6:45?  Anyone who is coming, PM me and i'll give you my mob num so we can arrange properly (and by that i mean text of course!!)

@ niku, i think if we go to the villa do we may be slightly outnumbered being Yanks.
