Advice and Info about ex-partners and shared house drama
« on: September 01, 2010, 11:44:42 PM »
So my fiance and his ex broke up over a year ago.

It's his home he purchased, has 90% of the money in it.... but 2 years ago they put her name on it.

She hasn't given it up yet, and was trying to force him to sell, out of spite, even though he wants to keep it and it's his loss money~wise.

Recently she emailed him and said she's willing to sign it over, as it's not fair being 'his' home.   But she's dragging her feet, and ignoring him when he calls or emails.

Legally, what can he do?

And if we were to get married~ would he have more say because of having a wife?

This is such a headache on many levels~ please any advice/ help! x

The answer to this will depend on a million and one variables.  Were they actually married, or just in a partnership?  Were there any equity agreements in place?  How was the mortgage obtained (jointly?)?  Did she contribute to the mortgage payments or household expenses?

He's probably going to need to seek legal advice TBH.
