Oh no! Caraway is sooooo easy to go overboard on and a little too much is waaaaay too much.

Can you return the plate when he's not home? Or maybe late at night?
Or just say, "Your cake was interesting." And leave it at that. Lol

I am meant to bring him back his plate later...and I don't know what to say when I do!

Maybe you could ask him for the recipe. That implies that you liked it (so as to not hurt his feelings) but you don't actually have to say the words.  8)

Thanks for the tips! I will keep my fingers crossed that he doesn't flat out ask me how I liked it. Luckily I didn't see him today so have another day or so!

I think I will ask him about the recipe because I seriously want to know if he pulled this one out from his backside and thought it would work or it really is something people are making. I think I can still taste it!

I'm betting it is his "healthy" take on Irish potato and caraway cakes but he subbed in  sweet potatoes for the regular potatoes and pears as an oil replacement.

What if he makes you another one?

Tell him you are allergic to something or other.

Ahh maybe! Never heard of it but that makes sense.

Tell him you are allergic to something or other.

That would be a nightmare!

My husband stayed up late to catch up on the F1 qualifying after work and said he went for a snack and decided to just go without because the only option was the cake!  ;D

I wonder if that's affected my job prospects where the phone is involved... but i have no cobfirmation on that one.

I can't imagine it would given the amount of outsourcing that's happened/happening to most countries where people have stronger accents than the American accent

I would definitely go with either returning it when they aren't in with a note that says "came by to drop this off and you weren't in. Thanks so much for allowing me to try your cake. Next time will be my turn to make something for you to try!" or something like that that is still a thank you but not an encouragement that you enjoyed it enough that they should give you some more again in future. if they do give you more, just bin it hahaha it sounds minging but it's nice that they were thoughtful enough to share with you. If you return it to them when they are home, I would vote for saying something similar to "Thanks for letting me try your cake. It was very interesting and was a first time try". If they ask you if you liked it, you don't have to say that you liked it or that it was horrid, just say "I've definitely not had something like it before. it wasn't necessarily my cup of tea, but I don't normally go for fruit dishes" or something like that.

I work evenings until 11 or 12 so I have to go to sleep and wake up a little later than someone on a 9-5 schedule.  Our downstairs neighbors, not for the first time, woke me up this morning (about 9.30) playing music so loud that my bed was literally shaking.

The way to deal with this inconvenient annoyance, which I hadn't thought of when it has happened in the past when I was wide awake already, is to shout 'SHUT UP' as loud as you can while still half asleep.  Music went right down.  I'm not proud but I might keep this in my back pocket for next time, if there is a next time.

MPI, you did the right thing. He probably just thought that everyone must surely be awake that late.  It's great he did what you told him to.

I feel a teensy bit bad but it was just like, involuntary because it really jerked me awake and I was confused.  LOL.

But don't let them know that!  ;D  You need to be the shouty person that they are afraid to annoy, so they keep quiet in future!  ;)

This could be the case!  I haven't heard any music from them since!

My foot has been hurting and has been getting worse the last few weeks. I finally realised I've been in pain since mid/late September.

I've got an appointment with my GP next week, but am going on an excursion to the walk-in clinic now in case they can give me any advice.

I've got no idea what to expect or how long it will take so I've got a full phone battery, an external battery and a few snacks to get me through.
