How to Watch US TV in the UK/Abroad
« on: March 21, 2011, 06:07:58 PM »
If you use Firefox you can get an 'add-on' called Modify Headers. Its a simple tool that overrides your location IP and lets you see most networks (last testing was able to watch Comedy Central, NBC, FOX, ABC, CN and Nickelodeon) videos that are hosted on their sites.

How to watch the Daily Show and Colbert Report Outside the US
If you follow the video above, the steps are pretty simple and easy to follow.

I had mentioned this in a thread a few weeks back, but only just noticed this forum to really post about it. The add-on itself has worked out pretty well for me (especially as More4 no longer carries the daily episodes of the Daily Show) and its not edited down to remove any commercial sponsorship

Only downside to this add-on, is that it wont work with iPlayer in the US or with HULU in the UK.

Enjoy.

Is there something like Hulu in the UK?

“It was when I realised I had a new nationality: I was in exile. I am an adulterous resident: when I am in one city, I am dreaming of the other. I am an exile; citizen of the country of longing.” ― Suketu Mehta.

Married 04/13/11, in NYC.
Applied for Spouse Visa the following week, with express service, and I was approved 4 days later!
Arrived in the UK 05/20/11.
I took the stupid LIUK Test Oct. 2012.
We were granted ILR In Person in Croydon on 04/23/13.
Got BRP 2 days later, in mail box - it just appeared.

To watch what?  The BBC has iPlayer to watch their shows, but if you mean you want to watch Hulu content in the UK, then no, there's not.  You have to use the technique Kerri posted above, or in one of these posts:

Apparently Expat Shield works in the US by giving you a British IP.
Ive never used it, so couldnt tell you if it was effective or not. Or the whole legalities of it all...

It would certainly breach any Terms of Service that a provider might have in place to restrict streaming to certain geographical areas/territories/countries. It seems to be full of ads according to some reviews I have read.

Which is why I said Ive never used it nor knew the legalities of it - just that it is out there. I had only heard of it via word of blog of another expat, so his family could view him on a UK program.

If anyone has felt misled by Expat Shield, Im sorry
