Our new addition
« on: December 20, 2011, 02:24:57 PM »
We adopted a puppy from a local rescue.  She came all the way from Ireland (apparently they have an overpopulation problem?).  Her mom was a Border Collie, but they had no idea what dad was.  He was obviously some sort of terrier, as she has a tiny little beard and somewhat wirey coat. :)

Here's Miley:

So now we to experience all the joys of puppyhood...housebreaking, chewing and teaching manners.  :)

What a comfy-looking pup! Always a good thing when these "orphans" get adopted by good homes.

Awwwww! Miley is adorable.  Puppies are a lot of work, but a lot of joy as well.  I have had such a fun time with Lucy as she discovers the world.  Even now, I learn a lot from her on enjoying the simple things in life!

I am sure Miley is thanking her lucky stars for her new family and home!

Awww, she is lovely! Border collies are supposed to be very intelligent, aren't they? If so, here's to hoping she takes after her mum in that respect and trains rather quickly for you!

Yay for a new puppy! Congratulations <3 My husband and I got a Cocker Spaniel in September and she has seriously softened the blow of moving here for me. I had to leave my two dogs behind in the US. Hardest decision EVER. Bonnie, my Blue Heeler was left with my parents and Pitty, my Border Collie was adopted by a woman my mom met through a friend. I've never met the woman that took Pitty but she added me on facebook and we've become quite close!

So adorable, she should have inherited traits from her mum teach her to fetch and retrieve.  Ours is a cross staffy lab and he has inherited a lot of the labrador tendancys he will fetch and retrieve all day long.  And I mean all day lol.  But he is adorable.

Love pads x

Yes very intelligent and don't fall for the "stare". Because if you let them do something once, like sleep on the bed or give them food from the table, they won't forget.

Awww! I'm so jealous!  In the US, I lived with two border collie mixes; one was chock-full of energy, and the other acted a bit like a cat. I really really want one here, but as we're living in a small attic in London, it's not entirely feasible. Hopefully in a year or so I get an adorable little Miley of my own!  Have fun :)
