US High school grades to UCAS Tariff points?
« on: November 20, 2013, 04:07:50 PM »
I'm applying for a foundation degree at Manchester metropolitan University.
The requirements state to obtain minimal grades with a High school diploma.

Although when I called the university, the lady told me as long my grades were equivalent to 200 UCAS tariff points.

I looked it up, but I'm unable to find anything that showed me what my grades came to.

A= ?
B= ?
C= ?
D= ?
F= ?

Thank you for the help!

Try http://www.ucas.com/how-it-all-works/explore-your-options/entry-requirements/tariff-tables [nofollow]

Manchester is a great city.  :)

HTH.  :)

Where does it show what the USA grades are equivalent to? Would that be the GCE AS and VCE AS?

It only shows for AP programmes. Sorry!  ;)

Try contacting Manchester Met's International Student office for more information:
http://www2.mmu.ac.uk/international/your-country/country/index.php?country=usa

'Our entry requirements for United States of America

Foundation year:
High School Graduation Diploma (Grade 12), subject to obtaining minimum grades.

Undergraduate:
High School Graduation Diploma (year 12) PLUS one of the following: a) SAT I in Verbal, Maths and Written with minimum total that meets our entry criteria or b) 3 x AP tests with a minimum score that meets our entry criteria or c) International Baccalaureate with a minimum point standing published on our website d) successfully complete 1 year of University/junior college. Students who have completed the 2 Year Associate Degree at an accredited institution may apply for advanced standing to year 2 - subject to subject match of MMU degree and approval by departmental admissions tutors.'

Or try emailing tariffqueries@ucas.ac.uk from http://www.ucas.com/how-it-all-works/explore-your-options/entry-requirements/ucas-tariff

Or UK NARIC, for a fee, likely, and likely unnecessary.
http://www.ecctis.co.uk/naric/Individuals/Coming%20to%20the%20UK.aspx

A foundation degree is the first two years of an undergraduate degree. Does MMU offer a foundation year (pre 1st year), if you don't meet the requirements? Do you not want a full degree?

HTH.  :)
