'12 Years A Slave'

We've just been to see this and it is amazing. Such a powerful and harrowing movie. You'll need a box of tissues, barely a dry eye in the house, not sure what the people queuing to come in for the next showing thought when we were leaving!
I hope it wins all the Oscars it gets nominated for,

I love, love, love Chiwetel Ejiofor and saw him in a play last year - he was pretty amazing. This article highlights how on an upswing he is:

I've heard nothing, but amazing things about this film! I'm very anxious to see it :) Chiwetel Ejiofor is an amazing actor, been a big fan of his for a long time. He was charming on the Golden Globes!

I saw this movie here in the states with my husband.  I cried for most of the movie.  I was on the edge of my seat and holding my hand over my mouth in horror at times.  My UK husband was just the same - minus the crying. 

I was born and raised in the south.  Recent geneology showed census reports of my relatives owning slaves.  It really makes me feel ill knowing my ancestors and beloved part of the country's role in such a horrible time in history. 

It was one of the best films I have ever seen.

Oh, I cried Lizzylou. The bit that really got to me was when he joined in with the slaves singing, that symbolised him being broken.
