I sent my documents to the UK on Friday March 20th, they emailed me on March 27th asking for a supporting document. I quickly emailed the document back the same day. Today, April 10th I got an email that a decision has been made....I am really hoping that I am approved, as I was refused back in January (we didn't send the correct documents in)

Oh, apologies, yes!!  I received my passport with the visa in it the very next day, April 8th!!!
Since then we have been full steam ahead - just booked our tickets a few hours ago and are headed over on the 24th!  I'm a little nervous now as it was a "one way" but I really hope to take advantage and make the most of it :)

Congrats! Are you nervous because of the change, or because you're going through Heathrow with a one way ticket? If so, No need to worry! I haven't left yet but I think they just ask a couple of questions when you get to passport control is all. Good luck and congrats again!!

One way ticket? Hah! Round trip tickets for us are about $1350 each.....one way was over $2,000 each. You would think they would sell them for even just a little bit less than a round trip ticket....

It really pays to have s family member that works for an airline with international travel! My cousin works for Delta, and my one way ticket is costing $197.62! Thank goodness for that! The downside is you have to travel on a no confirmed ticket/stand-by. Sometimes you rub the risk of not getting on a flight. But then the upside is, when you make your flight you are automatically put in first class or business class!

Yep tried both round trip and one way - lots of different times/dates - but yes, for our family of four, the one way option we ended up with was cheapest :)

Wait Iceland Air doesn't give any meals on a 7-8 hour flight?!!! That's torture that is!

I paid $500 each for one-way non-stop through Skyscanner.com. This was the BA non-stop flight, but operated through Finn Air. The one-way on the BA website was $1800, so I highly suggest trying Skyscanner for tickets.

Exactly the same deal we found using justfly.com

Went for my FLR-M appointment in Croydon on Tuesday.  Sat there for 4 hours but was approved for my visa.  I would say the premium service is worth it.

I am brand new here, and I am wondering if anyone else got caught straddling the new health service fees for spousal/settlement visas. I am a US citizen living with my UK husband in the US, where we have been living for the past 15+ years. Now we are looking to move back to the UK to help care for my elderly mother-in-law.

This is our timeframe--

Submitted online application: 26 March 2015 (did not pay for priority)
Completed biometrics: 3 April 2015
Mailed supporting documents via UPS to Sheffield: 5 April 2015
HEALTHCARE SURCHARGE ADDED: 6 April 2015 (note: I'm not even sure if this applies to me, but I think it probably does)
Received UPS delivery acknowledgement: 8 April 2015
Received acknowledgement from Sheffield: 14 April 2015

I haven't heard anything since. I DID submit my fees and online application before the healthcare surcharge, but because they didn't receive my supporting documents before the 6 April date, I suspect my application might be delayed until I pay the additional fees.

Can anyone enlighten me or help me manage my expectations? Thank you in advance.

Heidi

I'm confused as to what you're asking exactly. Are you asking if your application is being held up because you maybe should have paid the NHS fee?
