After an 8 hour delay from FedEx I can finally say I got my visa! Was really worried when I saw they didn't keep my binder with the copies. All good though, what a relief!

That was our line of thought too since all of our correspondence was received before 2.

Good luck hope you hear something soon.

Congratulations!

What was her timeline like? Like from filling out the application, to emails, to actually receiving her passport with visa?

Thanks :)

Here is our timeline...

05 Feb 2014 Electronic application
10 Feb 2014 Biometric appointment
10 Feb 2014 Purchased priority processing
10 Feb 2014 FedEx'd Documents To Sheffield
12 Feb 2014 Documents arrived at Sheffield
13 Feb 2014 Visa application precessing email from UKBA
27 Feb 2014 The vague "decision made" email from UKBA
27 Feb 2014 Passport and paperwork FedEx'd from Sheffield
03 Mar 2014 Passport with visa received (and original paperwork/evidence) from FedEx

We were expecting a letter in the pack we got back along with the passport (plus visa) and paperwork, but there was nothing.  My wife enclosed copies of everything we submitted, which they kept.  They didn't appear to look at some of the original documents as they remained tidily paper-clipped together, but my P60 and our original marriage certificate was a bit worse-for-wear.  We are so pleased we got the visa though.

Congratulations everyone!

Can I just ask, I take it people sent their application documents in a bound folder?

I may be wrong, but my understanding from Rich is that they keep the documents?!!

You should not put your documents in a binder or folders.  Just clip them all together with a binder clip or paper clip.  And include copies of everything or they may keep some of the originals. They will keep the copies - not the originals.

I enclosed my documents in two Presentation Folders (with 24 pockets attached inside of each) like so http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/556216/Avery-Flexi-View-Presentation-Book-24/ [nofollow]

In one I put originals and other copies (both were labeled).

They sent back both folders. They clearly went through most of my originals but it really appears they didn't even touch my copies.

As for the visa start date I was really worried about that as I tried to allow plenty of time and arranged my return ticket for March 27 though I would have been ready to leave the next day. Although I read that they wouldn't start the visa until the travel date mine was made valid on 19 February (8 days before we were notified a decision had been made!).

Good luck to everyone!

This isn't recommended. It simply creates more work for the individuals reviewing the application. Just put everything in a pile and clip it together.

Hi Geeta,

Although I appreciate this, I have a lot of documentation that is being sent. Surely a pile is just creating a mess? There needs to be some sort of arrangement when sending.
