Mrs. Roberts, you're preachin' to the choir about the heat! Lol it's already over 100 down here!!! I would give anything to be back in the mid-60s in England!! Lol

And yes, every weekday from 12pm-6pm we FaceTime and Skype eachother(: and all day Saturday and Sunday(: basically any minute he's not at work, we are on the phone and video chatting lol  He usually asks me to stay on the line while he sleeps which i do happily of course but it's definitely not the same as just snuggling up with him, but it's better than nothing...

NMF921, I used that app a long time ago (years) and i don't remember it helping much, I'll definitely give it another go and see if it helps(: because that is definitely a great price! I usually use cheapoair.com and have always gotten the best prices that way, and most recently I've been using the travel tile on my Surface RT tablet that my fiancé bought for me as a surprise after my laptop died :)

Hi All.

My wife and I have just upgraded our application to priority. It's getting a bit ridiculous the waiting time now and considering the likes of Mrs Handy and Mrs Roberts who have sent off their applications two weeks prior to us, and still dont have their visas, we thought it was better to do so to avoid further wait.

I will keep you updated.

Ben

Hopefully they have your application in the process though! They cant stop midway!

But we emailed for an update and they said an ECO hadn't even been assigned to our application yet!

Sort it out Sheffield!

I sure hope so!! Lol

And oh man! That sucks!! But how did you ask them for that info? Any time I've emailed about a status update I just get the standard "it can take up to 12 weeks for processing... Blah blah blah" response... It's so frustrating! Lol yes they definitely need to sort it out! Surely if the post office which handles wayyyyyyy more pieces of tracked items and can provide us with updates, it clearly shouldn't be that hard for immigration to do it! Dominos even let's you track your pizza live online! But something we spend a large amount of money on can't be tracked or given a more frequent status update or real-time time frame..?!? Ugh!

Haha yep, unfortunately that's the way it is!

You need to word it in a way that makes them answer. I said we had important potential travel dates, and we needed an update to make a decision to travel or not.

Like you said, they'll just give you the standard answer otherwise!

It's actually a lot worse when you apply from within the UK.  I would highly encourage budgeting for same-day appointments when you make the move.  Last year we had members on the forum without their passports (unable to leave the UK) for 10-13 months.  And no status or estimated wait times are given.  It's not cool.

It just dawned on me, I think I know why it takes so long for these things to be processed ....

Every time one of us shares what an email said that they received, it's ALWAYS signed BB ....

Well that's it ... They are over working BB ... Poor thing is the only one in this department ... With as much as we are paying for this they really should hire BB an assistant ...

Just an early morning theory from an overly stressed and frazzled brain ...

Have a great weekend everyone and I hope we all get good news soon ...

KFdancer, my fiancé and I will definitely be paying for a same-day appointment! We had talked about that a while back before all this nonsense with waiting so long...

If you can swing it financially, it's worth it.  The lack of transparency in the system is too much for me.

Yeah we definitely will be doing so! We will be able to afford it without problem(:

But i do have some questions about it though...

When is the latest I can apply for FLR(m)? Is it the day my visa expires? Or the 28 days before?

Also, as I am changing my last name and renewing my passport to reflect that, obviously I will be filling out the application with my married name, I just seem to be confused about the whole application in general because of my name change... Like will it be more difficult for some reason? Idk, I'm just worrying about it all lol

The day it expires.

You can apply for FLR(M) anytime between the day you are married (as long as you have your marriage certificate to include with the application) and the expiry date of the visa.

So, if you are applying in person, your appointment must be on or before the expiry date.

The 28-days before expiry part only applies to applying for your second FLR(M) visa and for ILR, because you won't meet the residency requirements for them until 28 days before expiry, but there is no residency requirement on a fiance visa.

No, not at all. Your visa is only issued in the name on your passport, so it doesn't really matter which name it is in, as long as your passport and new visa match.

It can actually make things easier if you change your name on your passport before you apply for FLR(M).... because then you can use your married name for everything right from the start.

If you didn't change your name on your passport, then your FLR(M) would be issued in your maiden name and you would have to always use the maiden name for travel and future visas, while using your married name for everything else.

Okay great!(: thank you for the info! As soon as I get my passport back after changing my name, I will start the online application so we have time to choose a same day appointment which should hopefully be mid to late August...
Also, do you know how to go about actually changing my passport? As in where to send it to? Or will I find that out when I go online?
