That may be it.  I will definitely use special delivery for my next application if it's allowable at that point. 

The residence permit card arrived just about 10 minutes ago!  It's the most beautiful piece of plastic in the history of plastic.  LOL 

I hope you don't have much longer to wait!  Just watch for Royal Mail for the documents to be returned then DX for the card delivery.  BTW, the DX truck was unmarked, a plain white van from what I could see from my door.  Don't worry if yours is unmarked too.  Have your passport in hand if you have it back in time or have another photo ID nearby for them to check before they hand it to you.

I was out for the day yesterday with my sister-in-law and niece and figured with my luck that would be the day they would try to deliver. They didn't. I decided that from now on - no errands will be run around mail time so that I know if I have to wait for later for the beautiful card to be delivered. x

I got my "you are getting your permit" letter yesterday (the 1st) - that is day 45 from the day I mailed my application - and they tried to deliver the permit today while I was at lunch with a friend. So WOOHOO!!!! on being official
