Where to post visitors visa?
« on: April 19, 2014, 08:47:37 PM »
Okay, I have been looking and I can't find where to post the application for the UK visitors visa here in America.

Here is what it says once you complete the application:

"For applicants in the United States of America, Australia and New Zealand you must send your printed application and supporting documents to one of our processing centres after you have submitted your biometrics.

For information on where you should send these documents, please click on the link UK Visas and Immigration website."

The link takes me to a page about entering the UK. Not what I'm looking for.

Thanks in advance for the help

The UKBA site was redesigned a couple of months ago and is an absolute nightmare to navigate these days - half the links are broken and half of the information is no longer on it.

Don't worry though, you will be told the address you need to send your application documents to when you submit your online application, pay for the visa and book your biometrics appointment.

Ah, I've just found the address on the UKBA website. It must have been added recently - you can find it on this page:

No, you can't submit them in person - you can't get into the building without an appointment but there are no appointments to book, and they will not accept any documents at the door.

You must mail them and include return shipping.

Thanks for the quick replies.

Two more questions.

1) What is approximate turn around time for normal Business visitor 2 years visa?

2) And any specific supporting documens related info available online?

No idea - I don't know anyone who has ever applied for one.

You normally can't get a long-term visitor visa for more than 6 months unless you have a good history of regular, necessary visits to the UK and you have a very good reason for needing a visa valid for more than 6 months.

But you can look at current processing times here:

https://visa-processingtimes.homeoffice.gov.uk/y/united-states/visits-visas

From that link, most visitor visas are being processed about 15 working days (3 weeks).
