I don't know if I should feel happy that people seem to be getting their paperwork back so quickly, or worried that mine has been 3 months and still no word   :\\\'(

Application mailed: October 30th
Payment taken: Nov 10
Email confirming receipt of application Nov 14

If something was wrong they would have contacted me wouldn't they?

Thanks, guys! Went through the ceremony yesterday, so it's all done and dusted. Now just waiting on my red passport (application sent off yesterday afternoon)!

bfrenchfry, ugh, I'm sorry!  :(  I'm sure they would have contacted you were there an issue or something. Especially from looking over at the immigrationboards, there seems to be no rhyme or reason to their processing. But have you tried contacting them for an update? I know you're not supposed to ask for anything until the 6 month mark, but I found information over on the immigrationboards about how to bypass that and get an update (03001232253, then choose option 1 followed by option 2, and then provide them with name/address/reference number).

Congratulations on the ceremony!

Since I've been stalking this post, I thought it might help if I chimed in with my schedule.  I am applying on the basis of marriage to a BC plus ILR.  I didn't use NCS.

Application sent:  3 February
Application received: 4 February
Payment cleared: 12 February

Waiting for the acknowledgement letter!

Mungo, it looks like we have the same timeline so far!  I'm on the marriage to a BC plus ILR route also, but I applied using NCS on 3rd February.  My payment was taken on the 10th but didn't clear until the 11th or 12th (not sure which day exactly).  I'm still waiting on my acknowledgment letter as well.  Do you know why some people receive an email confirmation and others a letter?  I'm pretty sure I included my email address on my application?  Regardless, fingers crossed something comes soon!

Got my acknowledgement letter today!  It was dated 11 February. So now my timeline is:
Application sent:  3 February
Application received: 4 February
Payment cleared: 12 February
Acknowledgement letter received:18 February (dated 11 February)

I've been wondering why some people get emails, too!  I definitely included my email address on my application.

Like with everything about the naturalisation application process, it seems to be completely random (re: who gets emails versus letters)!  I supplied my email address but never received any notifications using it (and I religiously check all aspects of my email).  And I've not received a text about my passport application (although I've received my invite to interview letter and booked that appointment as well) either.

I've been approved! Timeline as follows:
NCS appointment: 3 February 2015 (application confirmed as received on 4 February)
Money taken: 10 February 2015
Confirmation letter received 18 February 2015 (dated the 10th)
Approval letter received 20 February 2015 (dated the 16th)

Now to book my ceremony! I can't believe how fast the entire process has been.  18 days total (including weekends). Very speedy!

Payment taken: 5 February 2015
Email confirming receipt: 6 February 2015
Acknowledgement letter received: 16 February 2015 (dated 5 Feb)
Approval letter received 21 February 2015 (dated 15 Feb)

As an added bonus, on the same day that I received the approval letter, I also received a letter from my local council starting 'Dear Future Citizen,' informing me that they booked me onto a citizenship ceremony on March 18th!

I was a pretty straightforward app, Tier 1 the whole time prior to ILR, same address, same large employer, nothing interesting on the travel front, etc.

Hey guys! I need advice please.

I sent my application on Feb 3rd. It arrived on the 4th.

I received a letter in the mail confirming my application, dated for the 11th. It begins "This is to acknowledge receipt of your application (s) and the following documents...." And it goes on to say a decision will be made in 6 months.

But then it says my payment was declined and they needed to receive it within 14 days. I panicked, called Halifax and they told me the payment was fine, but someone in the Home Office entered the wrong security code.

I called Home Office and confirmed the correct code over the phone (it was right on the application, so I'm not sure what happened). Payment went though. That was last Wednesday (18th). I haven't heard anything since. Should I have received an email or do I consider the physical letter from the 11th acknowledgement of my application?

After the payment issue, I am nervous about what I should receive.
