Another Spousal Visa Checklist
« on: July 28, 2014, 11:01:45 PM »
Greetings good people of UK-Yankee!

The time has (finally) come for me to post on of these Spousal Visa checklists.  I intend to file in a couple of weeks here.  We're eligible as soon as my husband sends me all of his supporting documents.  I will post our checklist below so please tell me if I am leaving anything out:

Application information
- Printed online application
- Completed VAF4a Appendix 2 form
- Stamped biometrics confirmation

Applicant information
- My current and previous passport
- My passport photo

Sponsor information
- Notarized copy of his passport
- Letter of confirmation for the visa

Relationship information
- Our marriage certificate
- 1 or 2 photos of you together
- A couple of screen shots of our Skype conversations showing that we have been in contact.  I also have a few tickets from international visits just to fill in the gaps.

Financial information
- My husband's job contract in the UK
- Letter from employer in the UK
- Last 6 months of his UK bank statements
- 6 months worth of pay slips

Accommodation information- we are planning on living with his parents initially
-Letter from them stating that it is alright for me to move in with them and verifying that the house will not be over crowded
-Land Registry document
-Mortgage statements (any suggestions on how many?)

Does this list look alright or is there anything that I am blatantly missing?  I have seen some suggestions to include my husband's P60 if he has one.  Additionally, the Transpondia website seems to suggest that it may be easier to draw up a tenancy agreement with his parents in order to facilitate the visa application (http://www.londonelegance.com/transpondia/accomodation-notes).  Has anyone done this?

I appreciate any help that people may be able to give us.  It will be nice to get this application finished and sent off!

Thank you all!

I would include the P60.  No, you don't need a tenancy agreement.

Everything else looks right to me.   :)

I just wanted to say thankyou for posting your list, we are in the same situation with my husband waiting patiently in the US for me to send him my last of the 6 months payslips and relevant accompanying documents (it's been a looong 6 months waiting to be able to do this application) and our checklist is the same as yours (except that we are renting our own apartment already)

So from my perspective, as we will hopefully be actually doing the application next week, all looks good to me!

Can someone advise whether they require a land registry AND a mortgage statement, or just one or the other?

The land registry is more important so definitely include that (you can download it from the Land Registry website for about £3).

Ideally you want to include original mortgage statements too, but if you don't have them, it's not too big a deal.

The two main things you want to include are:
- letter from the homeowner giving you permission to live there and stating that the home will not be overcrowded
- land registry document

Thank you so very much for your input.  Just waiting for the bank statements and then we are good to go!  One would think that a large international bank would be able to print out official statements rather than simply printing the ones found online for visa purposes but one would be wrong.

Ok, apologies for the double post.  I started my online application last night and have run into a snag.

Everything that I have read since beginning this process has told me that I need to fill out and send in Appendix 2 with my application.  I have this all printed and filled out.  When I registered on the Visa4UK website and selected the visa for which I was applying (Settlement -> Settlement -> Wife), a message popped up with a link directing me to a supplement which must be sent in.  I followed the link which directed me to a document entitled 'EMPLOYMENT (VAF2 APRIL 2014)'.  I had a look through the form and it seems very vague and has sections about things that have nothing to do with a spousal settlement visa.  For instance, one of the sections deals with Overseas Domestic Workers.  Many of the questions are ones that were answered in the online part such as my parents' details, my employment information, and my travel history.  There is only one small section about my sponsor's information and nothing about financial requirements.

My gut tells me that this is not the right form.  I am conflicted about what to do as I was directed to fill this out by the website after I had entered information about the type of visa for which I was applying.  Has anyone else encountered this?  Thoughts?

Ignore it - it's the wrong form and evidently there's a broken link on the website. The form it is directing you to is for a completely different type of visa.

You fill out:
- the online application
- VAF4a Appendix 2 form
