ILR/STM visa processing times
« on: July 29, 2014, 08:19:50 AM »
Hello

I couldn't find a consistent answer to this question so I'm hoping you all can help me. I am about to file for IRL and I'd like to know what the current processing times are for priority mail in vs in person appt in Croyden.

Just a bit of info... I came in under the old rules..
Visa valid from 20/9/12 thru 20/12/14.  I did not arrive until 12/11/12. Unfortunately I have let time catch up with me due to illness so I am now filing as fast as possible.

Also my visa is spousal settlement w/KOL required. Which I have done and passed.

Any advice or answer to my questions would be greatly appreciated as this board has been a godsend from the before I even came over...
Thanks so much.....

This thread is always ongoing with that very question. :) It's not been updated in a little while, but generally, applications done by post are taking 4-5 months. In-person appointments will generally have a decision made the same day, unless the application is too complex for some reason.

As far as I'm aware, it should be fairly easy to get an appointment... all you can do though is create an account, try booking one and see what dates come up as available. New appointments are only released 6 weeks in advance so right now, you can book up to about September 8th.

You have almost 5 more months left in order to book and attend an appointment (or to get the application in the mail), so there's no need to hurry unless you are desperate to get your ILR right now.

Last year, there was a problem with third parties purchasing all the appointments and then selling them on at higher prices, so all the appointments would get booked up weeks in advance and you would literally have to book one as soon as it became available - at midnight, 42 days ahead. However, UKBA stopped these third parties and now there shouldn't be any problems getting an appointment when you need one.

My application for SET(M) was sent in early March. Had a letter confirming receipt saying most applications are processed within six months. Realised my passport would expire in that time. Began to panic. Did biometrics in early April. Got approval and documents returned about 10 days ago. (Before passport expired! Bonus!!)

(I'm under old rules, too. FLR was applied for in December 2011, issued March 2012.)

Another shameless promotion for www.mclevey.com, the best place on the internet to buy art.
