bank statements and overdraft, FLR(M) app
« on: August 29, 2014, 04:23:37 PM »
Hello, I wonder if I can get some advice here. As we include bank statements in the FLRM application, does it matter if the account has been in overdraft? We used his overdraft to pay the (rather large) deposit when we moved into a flat together last year, paid it off in March, and then went into overdraft again briefly (May statement) to pay the years' council tax rather than pay it every month. We're not currently in overdraft and won't be when I make the FLR application in about a month (!!), but I'm worried that showing that we were in overdraft in the last 6 months will hurt the application.

Otherwise all bills are paid just fine, neither one of us has a credit card, and we've just opened a joint checking and joint savings account. Will the overdraft cause problems?

Nope, the overdraft is not an issue.

What's important is the amount of money coming in each month as income. That's it. They don't look at credit cards, overdraft, bills or anything like that - just your incoming salary and employment.

So, as long as your combined income is £18,600 or more per year, you will meet the requirement.

FOLLOWUP QUESTION.

My dear fiance, in all his procrastination, didn't update his address with his bank until about a month ago. Before that, his statements were sent to his parents house. Will the parents address (which is also his previous address) being on statements so recently be a problem? We have other mail (council tax, etc) to show he's been living at the same address with me.
