This Government wants to stop providing Benefits to as many as possible . . . that is why our Financial reuirements have gone up and the first 16,0000 do not count as any savings over 16,0000 you get no support.

Having 16k won't stop anyone getting DLA/PIP as it's not a means treasted benefit. DLA/PIP is an in-work benefit. i.e. you can work and claim DLA, regardless of how much savings you have or how much you earn.

Having 16k does not stop ESA benefits for those who can never work again. They now receive more money under this new system and their extra money has come from reducing benefits from those who have been found fit for work following their medical or by ending their claim when they get a date for their medical. Before the last government brought these medicals in, people just claimed sick benefits without a medical.

The rules have changed, you are correct. Before, someone could claim sick benefits if they just couldn't do their own job anymore, but now it has changed to if they can't do any job anymore for very long, which gives those on ESA a chance to earn a bit of extra money if they are well enough that week. Those who are terminally ill with a life expectancy of less than 6 months, are now fast tracked onto the highest amount of benefits. Some are not required to have, or ever have, a medical. There are now residency requirements.

Hi Sirius,

many thanks for your reply and information, you are correct if you are in receipt of DLA and win the lottery you are still entitled to receive your DLA as you stated it is not means tested.

Sirius unfortunatley ESA is means tested and the amount you receive will be reduced compared to the amount of savings you receive and if you have 16,000 in savings your ESA will stop "Period"
Each year you receive your letter stating how much you receive and from date to date and also at the back in small print tells you about 16,000 saving and will stop.

Sirius what the Government publishes and what actually is happening are two stories they only tell the country what they believe you want to hear to benefit themselves, into the country believing they are doing a good job but come out with the truth and it is entirely different.

I have already been through the process of these assesments from Incapacity to ESA and experienced the Errors of law Atos, JCP, DWP, JUdges at HMCTS creates and no one corrects the errors of law as they have targets to meet.
