Stupid question about maiden/married names.
« on: October 16, 2014, 09:55:34 AM »
I'm not planning to change my name when I marry my fiance.  Not only because I simply don't want to, but also to keep from having to change my name on my passport and all my other identification.

I know this is a stupid question, but... would this have any bearing on my spouse visa application?  I mean, would they think that my marriage was "not genuine" because I didn't take my husband's name?

No problem at all. Fortunately this isn't the 1950s and women are allowed to keep their own names if they want to!

No effect at all. I didn't change mine and I just received my visa today under my name and then on the visa it notes his name as my spouse.
