question on visa process
« on: May 13, 2003, 11:59:19 PM »
Hello -
I hope someone here can advise me.  I have an employer who wants to employ me in the uk, and want to figure out the best way of going about it.  This company has hired another American for the same position, which is good, but under slightly different circumstances.  I'm in the uk now as a tourist, I have been here for a few months on my tourist visa, mostly to look for work.
I hear different things about where one must be in order to make the application.  Some people say that I must be in the US while the application is made, and enter on the work visa, but in the business and commercial guidance advice document on the IND website, it makes a provision for those who are already in the country.
My questions:
Do I need to go back to the US?
Or, will it help my application out at all if I am in the US?
Any help here would be great.
Thanks -
Charlotte

Honestly, if I were you I would let the company that's sponsoring me deal with this, but I know that might not be possible.

If the IND website says they make provisions, then certainly they should.  I would try calling them or see if there is more info elsewhere on the site.
