vaf2 visa
« on: March 01, 2015, 12:50:57 PM »
I'm an Indian married and divorced in India..
Later married to an American citizen, but my marriage is not registered in India..
I want to know that I am applying for a Vaf2 visa..
So do I have to mention about my marriage in the US?
Well, I don't want to, I have travelled earlier to London without mentioning..
But I'm worried a bit now as I am applying for the work permit in the UK..
Please help

Marriages that are legally recognised where they were performed are recognised in the UK. If your marriage is legal in the US, it is legal in the UK. If you were not to mention this marriage and your wife applies as your dependent to join you, she would be denied and your visa might be in trouble because they would question whether or not your were deceptive in a previous visa application.

Why would you NOT mention the marriage???? Having previously lied or deceived immigration officers does not mean you should continue to do so.

Thanks for your reply..
I don't intend to deceive anyone :(.
But I need this job desperately.. I have a girl child dependent on me who intends to study CPL.. Pilot training in Canada.. for that I need money..
Also as a woman married (4 years now) to this American of Indian origin, he has not yet filed for my Citizenship there.. i have been shuttling 6 months America 6 mnths India.. Its irking me now getting me nowhere. Thats why this job to raise my kid in a better way independently..
So the question that if I mention I'm married then would it affect my visa application in any way? Please I don't want to create more problems in my life at the moment.. Help please

You should answer the application honestly about your marriage and your child.

Answer honestly. You are married...end of.

Also, your husband doesn't "file for your citizenship" in the US. That is something YOU must apply for, assuming you meet the criteria. I suggest you read the info here - http://www.uscis.gov/us-citizenship/citizenship-through-naturalization. This is an official US government website, so the information is correct and may be relied on. Information from other sources may or may not be correct.
Married December 1992 (my 'old flame' whom I first met in the mid-70s)
1st move to UK - 1993 (Letter of Consent granted at British Embassy in Washington DC)
ILR - 1994 (1 year later - no fee way back then!)
Back to US in 2000
Returned to UK July 2011 (Spousal Visa/KOL endorsement)
ILR - September 2011
Application for naturalization submitted July 2014
Approval received 15-10-14; ceremony scheduled for 10 November!
Passport arrived 25 November 2014. Finally done!
