Visa Update! Decision made in one day?
« on: April 01, 2015, 05:54:51 PM »
Hi all,

We submitted the Visa supporting documents to Sheffield on Monday 30th March, had an email 31st March saying that the documents had been received and that the application was currently being prepared for consideration by an Entry Clearance Officer.

Today my wife receives an email saying that a decision has been made and that 'your application will be dispatched shortly from the Decision Making Centre in Sheffield, UK'.

That's where we are at.  Does this mean yes, or no?  Can anyone else advise on what the next steps are or has anyone else had a similar experience?

Oh and yes my wife paid for priority processing and we are also using VFS Global return shipping.

There was another recent poster whose application was decided in a day and her application was successful.  However, you can only wait until she receives her documents back to be sure.  There are no hidden messages in the emails they send.

Yeah, there's no way to know until you get the documents back, but unless there was any reason to reject you out of hand, they generally ask for more documentation if they are missing anything. I got my "decision has been made" email in 48 hours a couple of months ago.

Thank you both for your responses.  From what I understand some people (who are approved) receive a second email and some people don't. I was just wondering if there was any reasoning behind that?

You'll need to wait until you get the documents back to know the answer for sure, but yes - as others have said, it is possible to get a positive decision in one day.  When I applied for my spouse visa back in 2010 (back when you had to walk uphill in the snow both ways!), I had a decision within 48 hours of sending the documents.  I've heard the actual decision process only takes about 45 minutes to an hour for straightforward applications, so the bulk of the waiting time is actually just your application sitting in a queue waiting to be looked at by someone.

I hope it's a yes. I was freaking out when I got that one day turn around. Like everyone said, you have to wait until you get your documents back. Luckily my package turned up the next day so I didn't have to wait the dreadful 2 and half days lol. Good luck!

Thanks - do you mean priority? Yes we paid for priority - I got the email from them today confirming they received the application.  Although tomorrow and Monday are bank holidays so I don't expect to hear anything until mid next week earliest....

I hope all goes well for you and you get a good response ASAP!

My wife just received the return package in the mail today.  There's no approval letter or anything but there is now an extra page in her passport so I think that's good news!
