Ah great, thanks!  The reassurance that we're doing everything right is hugely helpful.

Question:

Do the visa fees currently listed online include the NHS levy?  I'm wondering how much to put into my checking account before I submit the application.  To find out how much my application would cost I clicked through the series of drop down menus and it told me $1491 (note that's USD, not pounds).  Is the NHS fee on top of that or is it included?  Gosh I hope it's included...

EDIT: It seems the £500 is on top of the above amount.  Good grief.  And they say immigrants don't contribute anything to the economy!

I think it's £600 and not £500 for the initial visa.   :-[

Y'all will find this interesting.

My fiance and I were going 'round in circles over which address to list on Appendix 2 for accommodation, either before or after we're married.  So I contacted the UKVI via a contact form on the website and actually got a response.

They suggested that I put the address of our friends' house on the form, then in the section for additional information, explain that we would move into his mother's house after we are married.

Next I might ask them if I am supposed to pay the NHS fee for the fiance visa because there is conflicting information on this.  Because it is only 6 months, I am thinking we will only have to pay it when we apply for FLR.

Question on shipping with UPS:

I know I need to include a waybill for the return shipping, do I need to include some kind of packaging as well?

That's good, thanks.

Now I'm a bit lost starting the online application process.

In the visa type I choose "settlement."  Sub-type...do I choose "Marriage"?  Because it does not list fiancee as an option.

Okay, so I assume Settlement--Marriage is the appropriate selection for my visa application.

Now it asks how long I intend to stay in the UK.  Um, forever?  As long as my immigration status allows me I suppose.  Not sure what to put here.

Another question: It asks my sponsor's relationship to me, and once again, fiance is not an option.  Do I select "Other relative"?

FYI the other options are:
Aunt
Brother
Cousin
Daughter
Father
Friend
Grandparent
Mother
Nephew
Niece
Partner
Sister
Son
Uncle
Work Colleague
Other Relative

How can they have all these options and not Fiance?!?

Yes, you select "other".  It's weird, I know.

Yes, just put "permanently" on how long you intend to stay.

And yes, marriage was the correct visa choice.

You've got this!

Right, thanks!  That's what my fiance and I keep telling each other..."We've got this...we've got this..."  It has been the source of so much dang anxiety!  I'll be so glad when it's over.

Also, when it asks for beginning and end dates of NHS treatment...I was able to use it for free as a student, and occasionally had to see a GP for an infection (eg sinus).  Should I just pick a date that I last saw a doctor?

That seems reasonable.  Or you could use the start and end dates of that visa.  No wrong answer.

Right, just submitted the online application.  Fingerprints next week.

Trying not to panic even though we meet all the requirements, have all the supporting documents.  All we want to do is be together, to get this out of the way will be the world's biggest relief!

Oh dear, my fiancé is starting to go into panic mode as we get ready to submit everything, even though we meet all the requirements.  He's wanting to consult a solicitor but I'm trying to reassure him that we've got everything right.

Financial:
He makes over £21,000 per annum.  Under Category A we have:
6 months original payslips
6 months original bank statements
Original signed contract
Letter from HR reiterating all the required information
Original P60

Relationship:

Boarding passes from his most recent trip to America in March 2015
Email itineraries from previous holidays together
Facetime logs/iMessage screenshots/email inbox screenshots/skype logs over the course of our 3 year relationship
4 photographs (I know only 2 are really needed)
A Christmas card from him to me
Series of emails with wedding venue showing a potential booking

Accommodation:
As per advice from a UKVI representative, we are providing evidence from my friends' townhouse where I will stay before we are married AND evidence from his Mother's house where we will stay after we're married. So:
2 Letters of invitation stating the houses will not be overcrowded
2 Land registries
2 Mortgage statements
-Possibly council tax bills

Citizenship and other:
Our passports, 2 passport sized photographs of me
Printed out application form
Appendix 2
Stamped biometrics appointment form
Letter of introduction from me
Letter of sponsorship from him, both explaining our intended living arrangements.

I can only hope this is everything we need, and they will have no reason to refuse us.

Thanks!  He works for a law school and they've told him how complicated and strict all the new rules are, thus the new panic.  We just need to be confident in ourselves.  We tick the required boxes, we have the evidence they need, it should, it WILL be fine.
