Am I glad I went for Check & Send! It saved me time and hassle.
So, the nice lady at the post office was looking through the application. All was well – I’d been really, really careful to keep the letters within those boxes... all the accompanying docs were fine... but then the last bit. The signature box. I thought the directions said to put the date inside the signature box. WRONG! Well, that’s what I did, and it voided the whole thing.
The lady said I definitely was not the first to make that mistake. But they scan these boxes, so this really has to be right. So... back to the countersignatory I go. Then I was kicking myself, because I thought, if I’d asked him to fill out and sign two forms (in case I mess up), I could have just filled out another and been done with it. (But then, strictly speaking, that would be illegal, wouldn't it?)
Sheesh, of all the stupid things to mess up on.
