Forum Upgrades, Saturday 9th of May
« on: May 07, 2015, 07:46:01 PM »
As Saturdays are the website's least busy day of the week and therefore causing the least disruption to members, the forums will be closed for upgrades on Saturday the 9th of May, from approximately noon until it's complete. Hopefully it will only take a few hours, fingers crossed. :)

Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Upgrades went smoothly, but updating old plugins was quite time consuming, some of the features are lost. The previous reputation feature will be replaced with a new similar feature next weekend.

The responsive mobile version still needs a little work, so if you find any glaring problems or have any questions, please let me know. :)

Do you know how we can switch to the full version site?

Is it true we will be able to highlight another member's image and hit F4 and administer to them a sturdy electric shock? If not, I would like to request this feature.

New look is very nice, but I really really hate that my ignore boards now show up, even if they don't show that there are new posts. I ignored those boards so they wouldn't clutter up the screen. Any chance of reinstating that feature?

Great job with the new look!

I used to go to "View unread posts since your last visit" (or something like that), but I can't find it in the new forum.  Did it go away, or am I not looking in the right place?

The view recent unread topics is the best UK Yankee feature! See your user name up there in the top right? Hit the drop down thingie and it is your second choice!

My pleasure, I'm glad you like. :)

I fiddled an outdated plugin, is it working now?

I'll be doing some spring cleaning to consolidate some rarely used areas, must change with the times. It should be less lengthy and cluttered then as well.

Great job with the new look!

Thanks! :)

Exactly, thank you sonofasailor. :)

At the moment you can't. I think I can easily enough duplicate the theme and make it mobile-unfriendly and selectable. However, I won't be able to work on this until the weekend, sorry.

Looks really good!

On mobile, the signatures are really long but overall it's much easier to use than before.

Will the new reputation feature keep our current reputation 'points' or will everyone be starting from scratch?

I was wondering this as well.

I think with the reputation points, as perhaps with life in general, every now and then it might be good to "reset" everyone's "score".

"Oh you think you've made it? Feeling comfortable and respected?"

"Back to square one my friend, only this time we all have to carry backpacks with paving stones....wearing flip-flops!"

Maybe in some things, but I'm sure ksand's 100+ reputation points (if I recall correctly) show her as a more reputable voice to new members. Once you've been on the forum for a while, it's obvious who the key players are, but when you first sign on, it's tough to know who the trusted members are. The rep points are a good indicator of that, in my opinion.
