Howard was banned some time ago.
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

Or Laurie???

Laurie has been busy since he got to the US, he got a job straight away, plus I think Brooke & Laurie had some problems with their PC.  . He's coming back to the UK for a visit sometime this month, I forget when exactly.

Well, you chose to marry him so I suppose you wanted to be married to him. Then you wanted to socialise, so you changed him from what he was. So he couldn’t have been what you wanted him to be when you married him.
Sounds like a little bit of a paradox but quite a common one judging from some of the posts here.
Anyway, this is just an observation not a criticism. And if you are both happy with the changes, more power to your elbow.

Honestly -- one of the husband unit's friends said to me -- I'm the best thing that's ever HAPPENED to him (and I think  - vice versa) [smiley=love.gif]

Now....if SOMETHING could be said for FIL...  ;)

well, i think in relationships people naturally change by being together.  Almost like a molding of 2 personalities....seeing what gels together.

I know that i never set out to change my husband, but from being with me he's changed in some of the ways he acts and his aspirations....i know he's changed me in a lot of ways as well.

i'm not saying it was a purposeful change, just small changes that kinda just....happened from being together.

I'm sorry but this statement is really condescending. What if he DID want to be more sociable but was too shy and being with the right woman helped? What is he just worked on his own self-confidence? What if he finally met people he wanted to socialize with?

People do change. They go up and down. And frankly, people who stay the same are boring IMO. OK, I'm done.

I've had one of my hubby's friends actually hug me and thank me, saying I was the best thing that ever happened to him.

I've also had more than one person (friends and family alike) ask me what I've done to him, they're so impressed lol!

Personally, I didn't do anything but love him and offer him the same encouragement and support he offers me.  He's changed and I've changed - but not because we were _trying_ to change eachother.

Oh, and ukladybug, David is very quiet.  But he's gotten more...vocal, as our relationship has progressed.  We've had quite a few chats about it tho - so it wasn't just something automatic.  That was part of our "learning how to argue" phase...and led to our learning how to not argue.  ;D

Oh, thank God my husband has changed!  Otherwise he'd still be wandering around in M&S light blue button up shirts(one for every day), light grey trousers and talking about nothing but 60's psychedelic music.   ;)  Oh, and the long hair was the first thing to go.

Oh, I've switched to black socks.  No more white socks for me.  How sad.

I still wear white socks with Keds or my tennis shoes.  Hubby wears white socks with his tennis shoes too.  I've gotten so I don't care anymore; I wear what I like and the rest be damned.  :o

The last time I wore white socks to work, they all laughed at me and called them virgin socks.  lol
