Decision email
« on: July 31, 2015, 07:19:38 PM »
Hi all! For those of you who got your decision made email,

What did it look like? Did it include your name and reference number or was it just a vague email?

Thanks!

The decision emails sent from NYC are different to those sent from Sheffield, and as the majority of people here on the forum are applying for settlement visas in Sheffield, I'm not sure they'll be much help.

Have you received a decision email yet? If so, what does it say?

I received it today and it said "issued" and was like dear applicant we are happy to say we issued your visa. Your tracking info will come soon.

So I was worried becauss it didn't say my name or my application id

Congratulations :)!

I know that the NYC emails tell you whether the visa has been issued or refused, while the Sheffield emails just say 'a decision has been made' and don't tell you if it's been issued or not.

Does it really matter if there's no name or ID? It's a standard response email so they may not personalise them.

Btw, how do they deliver your documents? Is it signature required or do they just drop it at your doorstep unattended?

Usually the same day or next day from getting the decision email, but it depends when they ship it out - as it's the weekend you may not get it until Monday now.

What return shipping did you purchase?

If it was UPS/DHL, I believe it should be signature required, but many people have said that their package has been delivered without a signature, so you'll just have to wait and see :).

I used the vfs global so I suppose ups

I am not home during the day next week so I hope they don't just drop it off at my doorstep unattended as someone could steal it...

I never got any tracking info either like they said they would give me but I suppose I will wait to see what happens.

I really really hope they don't drop it off without a sig :(

I believe normally they have to hand it to someone, even if they don't require a signature, so if you're not in, they will probably leave a 'we called but you were out' card.

As I said, it can take a day or two to send your tracking info - as I understand it, you won't be assigned a tracking number until they physically ship it, which may not happen until Monday since you got the decision email on Friday afternoon and the consulate is closed today.

In my case, they did leave my return package on our porch. With UPS it's up to the discretion of the delivery driver on whether or not it's a "safe" place to leave your package.

Until then, I didn't know they could do that... I never received UPS packages.

edited to remove details no one really wants to know. haha

The usual. American girl meets British guy. They fall into like, then into love. Then there was the big decision. The American traveled across the pond to join the Brit. And life was never the same again.

We received it by peeking out the window every 5 minutes until my husband decided to just do some work on a bike in the front yard. My 3 year old was so excited she saw the brown truck and shouted "it's your special permission!!" My husband practically  tackled the ups guy and was not asked to sign :)
