I feel like my own country is punishing me for doing so! I am actually ashamed of how my country is treating those genuine decent human beings who want to come here and live! WHY?

It's an old pattern. The vilification of "the other"...
I just hope that more people will ignore the fatalism of the argument that we are beyond repair. We are not beyond repair. We are never beyond repair. - AOC

I'm having trouble opening the link. I will be applying in November for the second part of my spousal visa (Arrived in the UK May 2014) with my 2 daughters. Can someone tell me how expensive this will be? I understand this will include a £1500 NHS Levy (3 of us).

Thank you KF Dancer, although we meet the financial requirement for all 3 of us, we have a US/UK citizen son and with 3 kids, very difficult to save anything.

We've managed to save for half of the fees but feeling deflated. We've loved our time here and the schools have been amazing but where does this fee gouging increase end? I know we will have one more round of visas after the one in November( another 30 months) and at that time can apply for citizenship, is this correct?

No idea where it will end.  In my opinion, they are stress testing the market with the fees to see at what point, people will decide to emigrate.  It's awful.

This time last year, ILR cost less than £1,000 (£960 I think?), in April it will cost £1,875.  There's every chance it could be £2,500 per application when your time comes (hopefully not!) if they continue to increase the fees at the same rate.  Citizenship has gone up as well, but at least that is not required.

It's pretty likely that some applicants just won't be able to afford the new fee for the ILR application. They might manage to pay for another FLR + IHS for 1,311gbp.

But... no access to public funds for them....

I suppose I have a deadline to apply for my step-daughter's visa then. Still waiting on her mum's, my wife's visa applied for in December.  :(

Any reason why you didn't apply for your step-daughter's visa at the same time as your wife's visa?

If you are applying for non-UK citizen children to move as well, the visa applications should be sent together in the same package and processed at the same time... as there is a different financial requirement if you are applying for both your wife and her daughter, compared with just applying for your wife.

If only your wife needs a visa, then the financial income requirement is £18,600... but if both your wife and step-daughter need visas, then the income requirement is £22,400.

Complications with her father's military deployment, passport and the fact that she's finishing her school year first in US.

Financial requirement is not an issue thankfully. My wage as a Police Officer is sufficient.

Quick question about this fee increase!  My wedding date was taken and we had to take April 2nd. I won't be able to send documents u til Monday, April 4th and who knows when the Home Office will receive it (Hopefully the 5th!). But is there anything definite when this fee increase is going to happen in April? I saw usually the 6th, but wanted to make sure if I sent my documents off on the 4th, which fee I would have to pay. I wouldn't want them to receive it the 6th and get refused because I didn't pay enough.

The fee increases April 6.  Just send it recorded (special delivery) and you'll be fine.

And it looks like there are some new ways for them to make money. A few categories appear not to have existed before, such as £25 processing fee for processing an application which is subsequently rejected! So not only are you devastated by the rejection, you have to pay them another £25?!
