True.

His English sounded like native English to my ears (besides a very subtle Italian inflection I think I heard once I knew he was from Italy), so I'm guessing he's been here quite a while.

He probably 'gets away with it' as much as I do. ;)

Haha probably so. My best friend from home is Guatemalan and speaks only Spanish at home but she has absolutely no perceptible accent. I'm always amazed when people manage this. No one ever guesses that she wasn't born and raised in the US.

Ahhh, I love the conversations that come with food deliveries!  I find my drivers are usually very chatty!

They're usually pretty matter-of-fact in our area of London (not rude, but you can tell they're busy), but this guy was so far ahead of schedule he called to see if we were home and wanted our delivery early..... 1.5 hours before our slot! Guess he was having a good evening.

He spent a few minutes talking, in detail, about the broken egg we got.... how he noticed it, how he would refund it, how we could keep the other 5 unbroken eggs, when the refund would show up.....  :) A very friendly guy for sure. DH said he was chatty on the phone, too.

We were having a bar meal in a hotel near where we were staying on Holy Island recently.  The young waitress was definitely not a native. DH says to me "What state is she from?"  When she takes our orders she nods and says "For sure".  I whisper "No -- Canada".  Sure enough she was from BC.
