Visa for Step-daughter
« on: February 05, 2016, 12:21:34 PM »
Although we are still waiting for my wife's visa to be decided I am thinking about her daughter's visa that we haven't applied for yet because she is finishing her school year in the US first. She is 7.

As far as I am aware it's a standard family settlement visa like my wife's with all the standard procedures and requirements we have had to go through with her.

However the application has to be done in the US. This will be a logistical nightmare for us as we'll be in the UK (hopefully) leaving our girl's grandparents to sort the application.

Are there any other options to apply for a child from within the UK?

Pete

No, she has to apply from the US.  I thought dependent had to be applied for at the same time as it changes the financial requirements....

The financial requirements are not a problem either way. The timing of her coming over is complicated and still not sorted due to her father's military deployments.

I did think there was no other option but it never hurts to ask
