I agree. The sour cream isn't quite right here.

Try the crème fraiche instead.

What's wrong with Old El Paso?  Of course the squeezy bottles of "sour cream" and "Guacamole" are a crime against humanity, but there's no other taco shell than OEP

Taco 'shells' should always be made by shallow-frying a corn tortilla, folding it into the required shape!

There's grits???! I can't find them at our Tesco.  We actually have a few American stores in town but their mostly sweets and junk food.

Totally agree with the butter thing, I've just been digging my tablespoon in it. My crisco sugar cookies came out ok using trex though.

crisco sugar cookies

Crisco sugar cookies?

I wonder who thought of this.

I watched the new Mad Max recently....and you know....I give credit to the bad guy for having a guitar player bouncing around on bungee cords on a platform on the front of the lead tractor trailer. The guitar spewed flames.

Some may say it is a waste of resources.....but if you are going to be the bad guy....why not have a guy up there with a flame spewing guitar?

But who looked at a sugar cookie and said, "You know what this needs? Crisco!"

That sounds good!

I tried to get my local burrito place to install a fryer so they can make chimichangas and home made nachos.  No luck

I'd eat the heck out of a sugar cookie with added trex.

To me, it tastes the same, but is a thicker consistency.

A decent Polish/Russian/Eastern European shop will have smetana, which is pretty much the king of all sour cream products.

No worries. If you can, get both a lower-fat and higher-fat option, so you can experiment. Me, I'm filth, so I'm all about 30%+. Good luck!

Crisco sugar cookies?

Random cooking fact: You use Crisco/solid vegetable shortening in place of all or part of the butter in a cookie recipe so they don't spread as much and it helps them stay more chewy. I made my favourite Oatmeal scotchies with all butter once and they were super thin, spread out and crispy. I couldn't figure out what was the problem until my mom reminded me we make them with half Crisco and half butter.
The usual. American girl meets British guy. They fall into like, then into love. Then there was the big decision. The American traveled across the pond to join the Brit. And life was never the same again.

I miss that too. I just pack the butter into my tablespoons when I need it. It works okay, cause it needs to hit room temperature anyway!
