Alrighty! Eye exams are done and glasses are ordered.

Now, on to sort out contact lenses.

How do others do it?

Do you order through Specsavers (if you got glasses there) or do you order from somewhere else?

The lady at Specsavers today wasn't even sure how much they'd cost. ::) I use Frequency 55 monthly soft contacts and it wasn't on her price chart.

Once you've got your prescription, go to various sites and compare prices. I think there's a lot of variation in price   You might also check Costco, I think they sell cheap contacts.

One thing is that if you buy your lenses from the person who does your exam, they often will provide follow up care and sort problems for free but the lenses will be pricey.

If you get them online you might have to pay if there's a problem later when wearing them

Don't forget if you use any sort of display screen at work, or at home for work, your employer has to provide eye tests and in some cases glasses/contacts

I have started using Lensmail through Specsavers and I really like it.  I don't wear mine all the time, so I have been set up for 3-4 times a week and I pay £12 per month.  Although I'm considering upgrading to the latest dailies for £18 per month.  Specsavers said that if I did not make a decision before the next batch of contacts arrives, as long as I don't open them, I could bring them in, exchange them and then they would update my order.  I don't know why I didn't do this when I was in the U.S., it is an absolute breeze!

I also took advantage of the discount on glasses that you get when you subscribe to Lensmail.  And when it is time to have a check up, they remind me and I don't have to pay.
